The Guardmaster Security safes

The Guardmaster series of safes were manufactured in New Zealand and the makers of Guardmaster safes made more types of safes than anyone else. At the time, they had an extensive range including the Guardmaster security and fire resistant safes known as model G25 COMB and G75 COMB. The only difference between the two models was the size and weight. Both models of Guardmaster safes are freestanding safes and are considered a high security safe as this version of the Guardmaster safe incorporated high-density re-factory barrier materials in the body, heat seals and barriers around the door and body, making the Guardmaster safe torch and drill resistant, therefore highly resistant to burglary and fire. The G25 Guardmaster safe also had two way bolt work being heavy duty 25mm thick steel locking bolts and automatic re-locking systems, combined with a bolt-down facility inside the safe. The typical locking mechanism used was either a Sargent & Greenleaf (S&G) 6 lever key lock or S&G spin combination dial lock.

The Guardmaster RH20 rotary hopper safe and the FL2014 deposit safe were both popular safes for retailers as the cylinder type deposit rotor allowed staff to make easy cash deposits without actually opening the safe. It had a S&G three-wheel changeable combination lock, three point locking bolt work and re-locking system with four point internal bolt down facility.

The difference between both models was the Guardmaster RC-7 had cross bolt locking door mechanism including top and bottom bolts and was locked by high security S&G safe key lock. The door was 6mm thick, the body 3mm thick and weighed 108kg. It also had a lockable internal ammo compartment and a capacity to store 7 firearms, and had bolt holes in the back and base for anchoring to the wall or floor. The Guardmaster RC-4 had all the same features as the RC-7 but the door on the Guardmaster RC-4 was 3mm thick, the walls 2mm thick and weighed 41kg. Guardmaster also manufactured other sizes in the gun safe range.

Guardmaster Fortress Safes consisted of eight models being the Guardmaster Fortress BS29, BS41, BS65, BS114, BS283, BS370 and the Guardmaster Fortress Drop Drawer NS114 safe. The Guardmaster Fortress series was a free standing safe with glass plate relocking and was burglary and fire resistant as the safes were filled with fire resistant concrete. It had a bolt-down hole in the base of the safe and the locking options available are S&G 6 lever key lock, digital electronic lock, or S&G 3 wheel Combination spin dial locking. Another added security feature was a thermal relocker for a higher insurance risk rating. The typical fire rating on the Guardmaster Fortress was 1 hour and the cash rating $25k. This was the same for all models as the main differences between the Guardmaster versions were the dimensions, weights, and the number of shelves. The Guardmaster Fortress drop drawer safe is obviously a cash deposit safe designed for the retail industry.
