Metal base platform for positioning your safe

metal base platform for positioning your safe

Metal base or metal platforms are usually used by safe owners to position their safes higher to make them easily accessible at working level. One of the most common complaints we heard in the industry was the safe being ‘too low’, which makes it very difficult to use. In order to solve this issue, you could buy an extra tall safe but you would still encounter the same issue when you try to access the bottom half of that safe. Therefore the best option for you to do is to install a base that elevates the safe off the ground level to a usable height. We understand that safes are heavy, therefore any base or platform used to lift the safe above ground level must be capable of supporting the safe, at the same time strong enough to resist an attack.

Throughout the 35 years of Safeguard Safes working in the industry, we have built a lot of metal bases for different types of safes. Having a platform or stand that elevates the height of the safe to a perfect working level could greatly minimise workplace injuries, as well as making it convenient for Staff members with back or knee injury to access.

However, you need to understand that installing the platform or base beneath the safe is a risky process due to the heavy nature of security safes. I strongly advise anyone who is considering doing so to take the necessary precautions. I’ve seen some shady safe stands throughout the years. Some were even made of wood. Whilst the wooden base worked as an elevated platform to lift the safe higher, it is very easy to break the safe off from this wooden base, which is potentially hazardous. Therefore it is recommended to always contact an expert in the industry such as Safeguard Safes to install the platform securely for your safe.

Another option for you if you wish to elevate your safe is to buy a metal stand that is already on the market. Both Guardall and LockIT Systems offer a safe stand for this use. The benefit of getting this type of stand is that they are designed specifically for their range of products. Take Guardall as an example, the Guardall BFG safe stand was designed to comply to OH&S regulations and mitigate risks where frequent access is required. The stand is suitable for all the BFG series 3 safes including the BFG100-S3, BFG400-S3, BFG500-S3, BFG600-S3, BFG800-S3. This range goes as heavy as 250kg and the Guardall BFG safe stand was constructed from solid box section steel tube to give a secure and safe fixture. The Guardall BFG stand has a standard size of h600mm x w410mm x d350mm, it is available at different heights. You can contact our Safes experts directly to discuss your requirements.

LockIT Systems also supply a standard column platform used for their key cabinets. The LockIT key cabinet stand has a standard size of h1010mm x w300mm x d260mm, it was designed specifically for the LockIT key cabinet G9 model, Shepherd model and Mini model.
