Strongroom Doors in today’s market

Gardall and CMI Safes both have a range of very competitive strongroom doors in today’s security market. In order to understand the range offered by both companies, let’s start with a bit of background information.

There are two grades of strongroom doors: commercial grade and bankers grade. It’s quite easy to distinguish between the two different grades. Bankers grade (also known as jewellers grade) strongroom doors are very thick and heavy. They’re quite rare on the market as they need to be mounted on a very sturdy vault wall. Banker’s grade strongroom doors generally weigh around 1400 kg as compared to the lighter commercial grade strongroom door which usually weighs around 400 kg.

In the recent years, there has been an increased demand in strongroom doors observed in the market. Popular purchasing options for these strongroom doors include CMI CD4, and the Guardall KS-SD.

The CMI Commercial grade strongroom door CD4 is priced at $9408, it is built to resist explosives, drill and force (EDF). The security door has a total thickness of 85mm, it provides a 10mm steel front section supported by drill-resisting hardened plate over all vital lock areas with glass operated relocking devices. Heavy 32mm diameter bolts of high grade steel provide three-way locking behind the specially strengthened lock bar chamber sections at front and rear top edges of the door. The frame is made of heavy steel 6mm x 120mm wide with a threshold plate at bottom. The hinges are adjustable heavy duty with hardened pins on a ball bearing axis which is pre-lubricated.

Guardall KS-SD Strongroom Door

The other popular strongroom door is from Guardall safes, a Perth-based company that has been selling safes since 1980. They introduced the KS strongroom door four years ago, it is manufactured in Asia under licence, and have made it to a very high standard overall. The front of the Guardall KS-SD strongroom door is made of a 12mm plate with 32mm bolts. A digital lock and a high quality German key lock are also included as standard. I really appreciate that it has ‘universal handling’, which means the door can be switched to swing from the left or to the right.

Both strongroom doors are fitted with a standard emergency release and “clam shell” style frames. They’re both very similar in construction and finish quality, the biggest difference is the delivery time. Please contact us on 1300 763 971 to discuss with one of our friendly Staff.
