What is a SCEC endorsed Class ‘B’ Plus key blister container?
The Class ‘B’+ key blister security container is usually a wall mounted steel container fitted with a SCEC approved KABA X-10 digital combination lock or alternatively a S&G 2740 Class ‘B’ digital lock. The Class ‘B’ key blister is primarily used in a secure office environment for the secure storage of restricted keys.
The Class ‘B’ key custody safe are purposely designed and constructed to meet the Federal Government standards and are totally approved by (SCEC) security construction equipment committee.
The typical security features and dimensions of Class B+ blister security key container consist of a fully welded 5mm thick body, with a hinge door secured by a SCEC approved class ‘B’ KABA X-10 combination lock.
These smaller government key cabinets are specifically engineered to be secured in a manner which offers positive protection against covert entry.
The ideal anchoring method is to be recessed within a wall, a column for maximum strength as the fixing method must be in accordance with SCEC working note 2/84.
The typical Class ‘B’ key cabinet safe technical & product specifications include an external height of 160mm and width of 230mm and depth 150mm, but you would need to add approximately 55mm to the depth to allow for the KABA X-10 and the weight is usually around 14kg.
The B+ key blister is often supplied with side and rear mounting holes that are pre-drilled. Materials applied consists of 5mm hot rolled steel together with manganese plate and textured electrostatic powder coat corrosion resistant finish.
The choice of the KABA X-10 or the S&G 2740B lock will both comply with SCEC approved regulations for a ‘B’ Class key custody safe.
